The Ballona Wetlands

Interning at the Ballona Wetlands gave me experience into the world of field work and hands on habitat restoration. This allowed me to wake up every morning knowing I was going to get closer and closer to nature. Beyond that, it was incredibly rewarding looking back on my time there and noticing the changes in native to non native plant ratios that we brought about with hard work.

I learnt valuable skills in conducting transects and formatting transect data. I also learnt many skills in flora and fauna identification and habitat restoration - including watering, planting, seed collecting, invasive species removal, and species identification. Even though my official internship is over, I cannot stay away from their public restoration days. If anyone is in the area, I would definitely recommend going in for a volunteer day!
